Halloween Themed Nails! - Bloody Drips

Did everyone have a good Halloween!? I went out last weekend and yesterday I took on my yearly duty of handing out candy. Always a good time!

Yesterday I sported a Halloween manicure to have my fingers participate in the holiday! I didn't do any jack-o-lanterns or frankensteins, but I did do something gruesome & spooky!

My nails are dripping blood! I called these my murderer nails! I wanted to do something fun like this because I couldn't really do a costume related manicure (I was a flapper).

This manicure was created with 3 coats of Lime Crime Milky Ways for the base & Joe Fresh Wine for the drippies. Wine is the perfect blood color, because it's a jelly. So it almost gave my drips a clot look but leaving darker areas. Really awesome!

This is also my first post featuring my camera in it's proper photo-taking glory! I made a lightbox to take my photos in (following this tutorial by Sarah from Chalkboard Nails!). Don't they look so much better! I'm so pleased.

Challenge Day 24: Inspired By A Book

The theme for this challenge was Inspired By A Book. This was not a hard decision at all, why not chose the book that women everywhere have lost their minds over?

I chose 50 Shades Of Grey. You don't have to be a bondage connoisseur or anything to read this book, it's pretty good! I would recommend it to anyone.

I created the "50 Shades" look by doing an ombre! The polishes used for the ombre were Joe Fresh Concrete, Zoya Kelly and a generic black polish. I also mixed white into Kelly to get the greys on my pointer and middle fingers.

Then I painted a tie on my ring finger to mimic the tie on the cover of the book. Nothing special, because my tie is quite a bit less detailed. But I think I portrayed the idea well!

Challenge Day 23: Inspired By A Movie

It's no question that I obviously failed this challenge. Big time. But I'm still going to try my best to finish it at my own pace.
Work has gotten really busy for me (which is a really good thing), so I'm trying to focus my energy on that. It was also my birthday and my 2 year anniversary with my boyfriend yesterday so that's exciting!

Anyway, this challenge was Inspired By A Movie. I didn't really know how to be inspired by a movie so I was looking through my collection of DVD's and saw The Notebook.
Then I thought of her super cute bathing suit!

If you're a bird, I'm a bird! I love The Notebook. It for sure made me fall in love with Ryan Gosling.

I recreated the pattern on her bathing suit (or outfit whatever it is) for this mani! My stripes were a little messy for this but i think it's pretty close to the pattern!

Ignore my messy stripes. I even recreated the pocket! The colors used for this mani were China Glaze Purr-fect Plum, OPI Comet Loves Cupid and Joe Fresh Concrete.

Did any of you mess up on the challenge? Hope I'm not the only one!

Challenge Day 22: Inspired By A Song

This was a hard one for sure. I'm not sure how to be inspired by a song. I was thinking music videos, lyrics, the name. But I eventually settled on something!

I have been obsessed with Lana Del Rey lately, her music is amazing and her lyrics are definitely inspiring. I chose her song Radio so inspired this manicure!

"Baby love me cause I'm playing on the radio." This song is awesome and was fairly easy to create in a manicure. I started with a nude base and painted on little radios on my thumb nails. I also did an accent nail with music notes! The radios were created with Joe Fresh Cement, Zoya Kelly and a black ebay nail art pen.

On the rest of my nails I did a glitter sandwich with F4 Polish Rainforest and China Glaze I. I thought this would be a cute way to spice up the rest of my nails instead of leaving them plain.

Overall I think this was a fun manicure! And I think it was inspired by a song quite well. Actually a radio and music notes could be inspired by all types of music!

Challenge Day 21: Inspired by a Color (+ previous challenge manis)

So, because I've been behind on posting but I'm still participating in the challenge I'm going to do a couple double post days. Where I left off will come later today and I will start with today's actual challenge. Which is Inspired By A Color!

So I took a page out of Rebecca's book from Rebecca Likes Nails and did a manicure based on a nail polish color instead of just a color... A glitter polish!

The polish I chose was F4 Polish Neapolitan which is a combination of medium pink hex glitters, large white hex glitters and micro brown hex glitters in a clear base. This polish was clearly inspired by neapolitan ice cream so I created neapolitan ice cream nails!

Other polishes used were Joe Fresh Bloom, Joe Fresh Mocha & China Glaze Knotty. I was going to use a white base but I chose Knotty because It would allow the white glitters to show better.

So later today I will post my delicate mani from last week! Plus a review of the wonderful polish used, which is my new favorite!

Challenge Day 12: Striped Nails

This post is coming to you a little late at night, oops! I am not a morning person, so I'm always up late since I often work evenings.

Today's theme was stripes! I painted my nails before work today and just loved this mani. I have seen this simple design all over and wanted to give it a shot.

I love how long this made my nails look! The color combination is also so chic and fashionable that I looked at my nails all day long. This is something I would imagine you'd see on runway, since they are always doing effortless yet eye-catching designs.

This is 3 coats of Joe Fresh Ballet Slipper (I think that's what it's called, I'll edit this later if it isn't!) which is one of my favorite nudes because it's slightly lighter than my skin tone but still has pink undertones. One coat of this polish is perfect for french manicures on paler-skinned ladies.

The stripe was then done with a black 2-way nail art pen from ebay! Sweet, huh? I can't wait to try this with different color combinations.

Tomorrow's theme is animal print! Obviously I'll do my signature leopard print for that one, but let's see if I can spruce it up a bit!

Rainbow Honey Equestria Collection!

Hi everyone! Sorry for the lack of posts lately. Not only have I definitely dropped the 31 day challenge (oops, my bad) but I've been without inspiration as I patiently wait for my new indie polishes to come in the mail!
Well, they are finally coming in! After receiving my Lush Lacquer order, I was excited to see what was next.
Then I got my Rainbow Honey order! I saw swatches of the Equestria Collection and couldn't wait to get my hands on it. All of the polishes are inspired by different ponies from My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. How cute is that?

Let's get started on some swatches!

This is one coat of Rainbow Honey The Worst Possible Thing over 2 coats of China Glaze Electric Beat. The photo is taken with flash. It is a glitter packed polish with tiny blue, purple, teal, pink, silver glitters. It also featured some flakies! Lots of glitter madness going on here!

No flash photo. The combination of all the glitters in The Worst Possible Thing gives it an overall periwinkle look. That being said, Electric Beat is the perfect underwear, since it is a periwinkle creme.
This was a lovely surprise and definitely my favorite.

This is one coat of Rainbow Honey A Little Kindness over 2 coats of China Glaze Innocence. It is pinkish shimmer base with small, medium and large gold and pink glitters throughout. This is so beautiful. I love a pink and gold combination.

A photo sans flash. I am usually not a fan of shimmery bases, but this sold me! I can't wait to try this over lots of colors.

Last but not least, the party that is Rainbow Honey Pinkie Promise! This is one coat over 2 coats of Joe Fresh Bloom. It has a pink/yellow duochrome shimmer base with pink, blue and gold glitter. It features lots of different sizes of glitter including large, medium and small hex glitters and bar glitters as well.

No flash photo. The duochrome shimmer base is the coolest thing about this polish. Let alone the chunky glitter which made me so excited. The shimmer base shows up mostly pink on it's own and over light colors but it transforms entirely over black. I can't wait to show you guys in the future!

Now i wish I didn't get mini's of these beauties!

Inspiration Monday: Bright Flowers

I wanted to start a weekly tradition for myself to keep me inspired, and I kept searching for what people were doing for their weekly challenges. Then I thought to myself, what if I do a weekly inspired mani? Inspired by a photo, pattern, tv show, jewelry, anything! So here is my first Inspiration Monday! What a good way to make mondays better.

This week's mani is inspired by my iPhone background. I have this little app that I can download background off, and all the ones I download are always floral. Because I'm obsessed with floral.

 

Here is my inspiration photo. Pretty, huh? So bright and cheery.

And here is my inspiration mani! The base color is Joe Fresh Cement, which is an awesome medium grey jelly that paints wonderfully. I did the lines with a white NYC polish (it has no name). The reason I dotted the lines is because they are so subtle in the photo and there's no way I could've got them thin enough to look the same. I like the way they look dotted.

I did the flower accent nail by first painting a white background for them like in the picture. Then I put a blob of Zoya Reneé for the pink flower, China Glaze Breakin' for the orange flower and China Glaze For Audrey for the blue flower. I made them look a little more like flowers by swirling a little white on top of them. The vines were done with OPI Who The Shrek Are You? and a dotting tool.
